For the last three years residents have had to put up with massive amounts of construction in downtown Reno. The Reno ReTRAC Train Trench project has been a hot topic and cause for many arguments among local politicians. Ask any Reno resident and you'll get a different answer. Ask us, and we'll sneak into the construction area to give you the full scoop.

The first thing you'll see are 'DO NOT ENTER' signs because the trench isn't exactly finished. Rumor has it that there's still another year or so of clean up involved with the project.

One of the main arguments for digging a hole to put the train in was centered around the amount of noise the train made downtown. I doubt that any high rollers care if they can hear a train from their penthouse suite in the Silver Legacy. While we were there scouting out the construction - wouldn't you know it - the first train comes roaring through the ReTRAC trench. We felt special.

Standing right outside Harrah's Hotel and Casino, you can see the ReTRAC Trench in all of its glory. Check out the Sands in the background - putting the train underground will make those Sands Pool Parties a lot more accessible.
Putting a few miles of train underground is huge task and major disturbance to the mulit-million dollar casinos in the area. Throughout all the construction and dirty politics, the Biggest Little City proved that it can still draw thousands of people each month to some of the best gambling in Nevada.
